Don't know when or if the high output engine was introduced in the Rangers. suspect it was at about the same time as in RZR's.

Cold start problem. Ever since the cold weather hit I've had trouble starting my 850xp. Turn the key to on, wait a second and then start it. Turns over a few times and then dies, I have to feather the throttle lightly til its running then it idles fine.
