Mun biomes

Aug 5, 2014 · At 15 Mun biomes and 9 Minmus biomes, that's a lot of work, but it will max out your tech tree. Also note that you'll probably want to EVA a kerbal to extract the reports from parts. This lets you repeat experiments at different altitudes or different biomes but still return the results for full science value without needing one part per biome.

Mun biomes. A biome is a region in a world with distinct geographical features, flora, temperatures, humidities, and sky, water, fog, grass and foliage colors. Biomes separate every generated world into different environments, such as forests, deserts and taigas. The biome of a location is determined during world generation rather than current environment. Even if the player completely …

Hello everyone, I was preparing a science mission to the Mun when I noticed that the only updated biome map for 1.2 and above don't have a legend, and in the case of the wiki, the map has many similar colors so I decided to modify it to make it easier to read. Hopefully you will find it as useful for your next travels as I do.

It's got the old (pre-1.2) Mun biome map with its default colors: ugly as sin, but SO EASY to see which biomes are which. It also has the new (V1.2) biome maps: oh so pretty, but EVERYTHING is in a narrow color band of grays for non-craters and purple-grays for craters. Then of course recovering the data from the mun, and returning it home. It is possible, just would be extraordinarily time consuming (especially the driving over the mun to all biomes, 3-4 biomes in that tank took a few hours). I would gladly use a KerbnetProbe but I'm currently running a challenge, that is bringing all of Mun's surface science in one mission without getting science from anywhere else than Kerbin itself. The total dV from LKO & back again, visiting every biome on Mun using suborbital hops is probably about ~8000-10000m/s, definitely a dV requirement most elegantly handled by the LV-N, at least for a ~1.25t payload.
