When an employee yells at a guest, that's absolutely unacceptable. INCORRECT. Both parties should be held to the standard of "Not being an asshole" if a guest acts poorly, it's only human nature to act poorly back. The difference is, the FD should have used their position as an employee over their volume level.

Talesfromthefrontdesk. The church paid the hotel for the room. Guest thought they would get a refund to them and not the church. It seems like all they wanted was the money and not the room.

The Mister Patel Scam. Well kids, your favorite Second House Suites night auditor made a bit of a goof tonight. Thankfully, not a massive one. So I get a call from a Mr. Patel, who says he is one of the owners and there was an issue with a package coming via FedEx International. Okay.

I'm just picturing the GM of some hole in the wall on the side of a highway with a tall sign advertising rooms for $39.99 reading this and bubbling over with a smug sense of pride. Practically running over to their only front desk computer to open that saucy file. 8 days ago. The place where tourists are decent people who stay in hotels. But decent locals stay in their houses (unless they burn down). The locals that check into local hotels are the ones who are there to do drug binges, cheat on their spouses, engage in criminal behavior, etc.Worked front desk for years. A frequent executive stayed once a month. He was good looking, quiet. Has a wife and they adopted two kids. I didn't really get a break from people either buying things from our market, requesting ...One idiot hired can't keep her wig on straight, smells and is constantly late. One asshat knows what to do but is so busy trying to get my job, that she doesn't do jackahit at the desk. No, wait she sits on her ass, eats and talks on her phone. She ignores the phone ringing at the desk.

If staff wants to provide free rooms for guests (homeless or not) they clearly can provide their own card to cover the costs. What they don't get to do is push the costs on the business without the consent of the business. It's a lot easier to say no when you're giving away your own money instead of throwing the costs or risk at your employer. In order to meet your posting guidelines, I'm going to share a story from the land use front desk. 😉 (I'm remembering this from a few years ago, so forgive me for paraphrasing the events.) Pretty much every hotel I've ever worked or stayed at puts a hold for incidentals and it's not optional. You didn't understand the scam. The fake website took their info and card, charged them an exorbitant amount, then made a pre-paid reservation through Excelsior with the scammed person's info and their own card. It only worked because there was a real reservation made. So, no, you're not pulling any fast ones.r/TalesFromTheFrontDesk A place where people from the hotel (mostly) industry can come and share the stories of the things our guests do and say that make customer service the hated job that it is. Non-hotel front desk stories welcome, so long as the tale involves a front desk. This is largely the fault of the hotel industry. There is no obvious way to check in at 8 am. If I make reservations for the night before, knowing I will be using the room, my reservation will be cancelled as a no show. If I make a reservation for the same day, we get bitched at for wanting the room early. 2.As "checking in" is the universal hotel term for the process in which the front desk actual checks you into the hotel, and gives you keys. Ok, so this is my first post! And since I’ve become a night audit about 10 weeks ago, this is my first real weird evening. So, it starts with a remote control not working. The guest happened to be in the lobby and waived FDS over after the call to show her the lovely messages FOM was sending the guest. WELLLLLL apparently FOM borrowed $200 from the guest previously, and ...
